I am a fulltime piano teacher offering private piano lessons to students of all ages in the Scotts Valley, Santa Cruz, Felton, Ben Lomond, and Boulder Creek, California area. My teaching studio is located in a convenient location in Scotts Valley, CA.
I started teaching piano more than thirtyfive years ago, first in Minnesota, then in New York City and Connecticut before moving to the Santa Cruz area in 1994. My students range in age from 5 to 70 years old, from beginners through advanced levels of study. Using a variety of different methods, I integrate music theory, classical repertoire and technic, popular music, jazz and improvisation to create an individualized lesson plan for each student. My studio is equipped with a 7 ’4” Bohemian grand piano.

Students are required to practice on a regular basis - that means at least 5 days a week for a minimum of 20 minutes for younger students, and up to an hour for older and more advanced students.

I hold student recitals twice a year: a winter recital just in mid-December, and an end of the school year recital in late May or early June.
Recitals are an important component of musical study. In addition to the joy of sharing music with others, they can be inspiring for students who are having difficulties. They help foster the poise and self-confidence needed later in life when we must present ourselves to others in public. All students are encouraged to participate in the recitals, either as performers or as the audience.
I schedule lesson throughout the day (12-9pm) at my studio in Scotts Valley. Younger students usually schedule for 30 minute lessons, and older or more advanced students schedule for 45 minute or longer lessons. All of my students have weekly lessons.

It's always a good idea for a prospective teacher and student to meet and get an idea of whether they're a good match, so if you're interested in lessons for yourself or your child, please contact me and we'll arrange to meet.
